Warangal: Rs 1.58 crore was sanctioned for undertaking road repairs in Greater Warangal. Apart from this steps would be taken to get additional funds for creating better infrastructure with the growing population in Greater Warangal. Announcing this to the media, Minister for B C Welfare Baswaraju Saraiah said here on Friday that city roads were damaged to a greater extent due to incessant rains in the city and also in the district during the current monsoon season.

Saraiah along with Collector G Kishan, GWMC Commissioner Vivek Yadav, KUDA Vice Chairman Yadagiri Reddy, Roads and Building engineers, Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar and others made a field trip of the city to assess the damage to roads and also for taking up development works in Greater Warangal. Giving the details, he said that the R & B department would spend Rs 1 crore, while the GWMC would spend Rs 58 lakh for repairing the roads in the split-up of revenues.

The Minster directed the TRANSCO officials to remove all the electric poles on the roads causing hurdles to the traffic. Central lighting at all important roads would be established to create better facilities to riders in Warangal city as it is the second biggest city in the Telangana region, he revealed. Directing the officials to work on clearing all the court cases coming in the way of making the Hunter Road, a four-lane road, he said that this road connects Hanamakonda with Warangal and also proposed airport at Mamnoor.


Minister Saraiah appealed to all the residents and business establishments to help in the expansion of the city roads as it is the next big city to Hyderabad in the yet to be formed Telangana state.
