Palakol (West Godavari): A large number of farmers participated in a rally in support of united Andhra Pradesh here on Monday. Farmers who came from remote villages in tractors and bikes joined the agitation against the State division. The protestors displayed placards of Samaikyandhra and raised slogans against formation of Telangana. Rytu Vedika president Dr Nimmala Rama Naidu, addressing the farmers, said farming would suffer a lot after creation of Telangana. The new State would result in water wars between the two regions, he warned. Cable operators took part in the protest at Gandhi statue centre.
YSRC, TD join hands
Eluru: Supporters of Samaikyandhra, led by YSR Congress Party, braved rain and participated in pre-scheduled ‘Vanta- varpu’ protest at fire station centre here.
Former minister and TDP leader Maganti Babu joined the protest and played Kabaddi on the road with the YSRCP men. A few women also took the opportunity to break the traffic rules by playing Kabaddi.
Schools, colleges closed
Gudivada (Krishna): A huge procession was taken out in Gudivada in support of Samaikyandhra. JAC convenor Yarlagadda Venkateswara Prasad flagged off the rally. The protestors paid tributes to ‘Amarajeevi’ Potti Sriramulu at Vasavi Chowk. Cable operators organised a bike rally against the State division. Speaking on the occasion, Prasad called upon the people of the town to cooperate with the protestors for two-day bandh scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the relay fast camp of the town Congress entered seventh day on Monday. Physically challenged persons joined the fast. At Nehru Chowk, the TDP and Samaikyandhra JAC leaders joined hunger strike camp. Schools and colleges in the town observed bandh. Students took out a rally. Private schools of the town have decided to observe bandh till August 19 to support Samaikyandhra cause.
