The valedictory function of Vigilance Awareness Week -2018 was held at IndianOil Bhavan – Chennai. Renowned cine Producer and distributor Kalaipuli S. Dhanu graced the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed prizes to the school and college students in the presence of S. Senthilkumar, Executive Director (Regional Services), Southern Region - IndianOil, R. Sitharthan, Executive Director & State Head for IndianOil – Tamil Nadu, and T G Nagarajan, Chief General Manager (Vigilance), Southern Region - IndianOil.

IndianOil had conducted Drawing, Painting and Elocution Competitions among 33 Schools and 10 colleges across Chennai with over 7000 students participating in the competitions and contributed their talents over the topic “Eradicate Corruption & Build a New India”

Around 200 Winners from Schools and Colleges were invited to IndianOil Bhavan and were felicitated with certificates and trophies by Mr. Kalaipuli S. Dhanu in presence of the senior management of IndianOil.

“Am very happy IndianOil has done a grand program to reach out the Vigilance Awareness message to the general public. As a citizen we should fight corruption at all levels of the society. Corruption spoils the people and through them the system. Let’s follow the rules & procedures and join in the fight against corruption”, said Dhanu in his address to the gathering.

S. Senthil Kumar, ED (RS), IndianOil, said that “Integrity is the very soul of our moral character. The sense of social responsibility and respect for fellow citizens strengthen our ability to be honest in our business and personal dealings. When we are guided by integrity, our thoughts and words match each other; our actions align with our principles. Our conduct speaks for us, more eloquently than words ever could. It becomes the basis for both reputation and self-respect. Integrity demands courage but delivers untroubled sleep.”

R. Sitharthan, ED, TNSO, said that “As students and the future of the nation, all the kids should learn with morals and ethics as the basics. Moral studies at school level is very essential and value based education should be given to these budding future, so that they grow up with a sense of responsibility and honesty towards the system and society.”

T. G. Nagarajan, CGM (Vigilance), SR said that “Honesty is contagious. You start it and it will spread. As youngsters and students many of you would grow to be responsible individuals holding respectable positions. Take a vow to follow rules and regulations. You can eradicate corruption and indeed build a new corruption free India.”

A skit “Bharathi Vs Sarathi” was enacted during the valedictory function, which received wide applause across the city while it was held at various places. The glimpses of the activities held during the week was consummated into an Audio-Visual and played for the audience. Apart from these the winners of the Slogan and essay contests in English, Hindi and Tamil which were conducted for the employees of IndianOil were also felicitated during the occasion.

Vote of Thanks was delivered by M P Thiruvalluvan, General Manager (Vigilance) - IndianOil, Southern Region in which he summarized the week long activities held across Southern Region.

This year’s Vigilance Awareness Week saw a larger participation of general public who took the e-pledge during the week. IndianOil conducted public awareness skits and Flash Mobs at Chennai Central, Central Suburban, Chennai Egmore Railway stations, Chennai Airport, Koyembedu Bus Stand, Central Metro and Alandur Metro to drive home the Vigilance Awareness message.

In order to reach out the message of Vigilance Awareness Week to the public, radio spots are being broadcasted through various FM channels in Tamil Nadu and a SMS blast have been done to 3 lakhs customers with the motto of creating awareness on Anti Corruption and Vigilance among the masses.
