BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Indian team's head coach Ravi Shastri took to social media to react to the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad that is going to become the largest cricket stadium in the world.

The stadium is expected to host 110,000 spectators, more than doubling its previous capacity of 54,000.

Ganguly played seven international matches (four Tests and three ODIs) at the Motera stadium. He scored two Tests centuries and a hundred in the 50-over format at the venue, which is set to make itself into the history books.

BCCI's Twitter handle has been sharing pictures of the Motera stadium for the last two days and Ganguly reacted to the news by replying to one of BCCI's tweets.

"Lovely to see such a massive, pretty stadium .. Ahmedabad .. have great memories in this ground as a player, captain ..grew up at Eden with hundred thousand capacity .. (not anymore).. can't wait to see this on 24th," BCCI President Ganguly wrote.

After Ganguly, it was the Indian coach who appreciated the looks of the renovated stadium.

"Looks simply spectacular. A moment to cherish for every Indian cricket lover. World-class facility seating 110,000 plus. @JayShah #MoteraStadium," wrote Shastri as he quote-retweeted one of BCCI's pictures of the Motera stadium.

The Sardar Patel or Motera Stadium was built in 1982 when the state government donated 50 acres of land for its construction. The ground began hosting international matches a year later in 1983. Apart from the 12 Tests and 24 ODIs, Motera has also hosted a T20I match, which interesting was Pakistan's final international game on the Indian soil that was played in 2012.
