For a section of the smartphone market, Dual-SIMs is a big deal. Few people prefer keeping their work and personal life separately on one phone, whereas few others like the ability to jump to the lowest-cost plan. All of this is possible with phones that support dual-SIMs. Adding 5G to the mix and MediaTex could have a hit on its hands.

As per Engadget, the first 5G smartphones using MediaTek's SoC should start appearing 2020 first quarter. Though it's not clear whether it will include dual-SIM 5G phones, before others jump into the market, MediaTek may try to move quickly to capitalise on first player advantage.
