Kothagudem: A three-day art exhibition titled 'Black Diamond', organised under the aegis of Pegasus Art Gallery and Singareni Collieries Company Limited at KCOA Club kickstarted here on Thursday.

SCCL Director (Operations) S Chandrashekar and retired IAS officer and founder of Pegasus Foundation Chandana Khan inaugurated the exhibition. The exhibition at Kothagudem was aimed at bringing the youth and students closer to art as in the digital age, the SCCL Director said, speaking after inaugurating the exhibition.

He said arts and sculpture were the most-effective tools of self-expression and expressed happiness over organising the exhibition at Kothagudem, which was known as centre of arts in coal belt area. He thanked Pegasus Art Gallery for conducting the event here.

Chandrashekar informed that paintings and sculptures displayed at the exhibition would be placed at all SCCL guest houses across the State and at a museum to be set up in near future.

Chandana Khan, speaking on the occasion, said the objective of the Foundation was to revive art forms that were disappearing due to lack of patronage. Paintings that reflect the Singareni culture would be created and provided to the SCCL to decorate the company guest houses.

The works of as many as 15 artists were on display at the exhibition.
