Mahbubnagar: With the private schools and colleges fleecing exorbitant fees from the students, the parents and students organizations are expressing their anger and demanding the State and central government to bring in a new law to contain them from fleecing the fees from the students.

On Wednesday, the All India Students Federation lead by State deputy secretary D Ramu along with AISF district secretary C Raju, submitted a representation to the District Intermediate education officer (DIEO) Venkya Nayak and urged him to take stern action against the junior colleges for charging exorbitant fees from the students. "The junior colleges have made education as a business and not hesitating to even charge more than Rs. 1 to Rs.1.5 lakh per student. Even the second grade colleges are charging more than Rs 50,000 and fleecing the students and parents as they like.

The poor and ignorant parents are borrowing money and burdened with huge debts. So we have urged the higher officials to take action against the junior colleges," said Raju, AISF secretary.

As the academic session has started and parents running from pillar to post to join their children in different schools, junior colleges and degree colleges across the district. The private schools, junior colleges and degree colleges taking this as an advantage are demanding exorbitant fees from them. "I paid Rs 35-40,000 for my child for her 8th standard and I had incurred Rs 2 lakh for my other child to let him study intermediate for two years.

I have only agriculture as my source of income and this is incurring huge debt on me," said Govind Ramulu a parent from Jadcherla.

In view of the above, the student's organisations as well as the parents are urging the government to bring in new education policy and protect the parents and students.
