Another lockdown in GHMC areas of Hyderabad as coronavirus cases spike

Hyderabad may go in for another lockdown for 15 days due to the rise in the coronavirus cases in the city. In a high-level meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao discussed future action plans in controlling coronavirus in the state and the treatment for the coronavirus patients.

The Chief Minister said that they are planning to announce lockdown in the GHMC limits as the areas are witnessing a spike in the coronavirus cases. A decision will be made in the cabinet meeting that will be held soon. The CM further said that there is no need to worry over the rise in the cases as the government has already made preparations to accord treatment to all the patients. He also reviewed measures being taken up in the state.

Explaining the prevailing coronavirus situation in the state, health minister Eatala Rajender said that the state is witnessing a sudden spike in the cases and also the country. The state has a low fatality rate when compared to the country's average in the death toll, he said. "All the necessary treatment is being given to the coronavirus patients. Besides the isolation wards in the government hospitals, beds were set up in private medical colleges. However, the patients with no symptoms are being given treatment at their home," Eatala said.

"The state's fatality rate is 1.52 per cent as against the country's average rate 3.04 per cent," principal secretary of health department Shantha Kumari told the Chief Minister.

The meeting was attended by health minister Eatala Rajender, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao, R&B minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, state chief secretary Somesh Kumar and the officials of the health department.
