Hyderabad: Following the adage that one should win where he lost, BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to blow the poll bugle from Nalgonda in South Telangana on February 13.

This would be the first public meeting to be addressed by the BRS chief after his recovery from the hip replacement surgery. KCR who held a meeting with party leaders on Tuesday from Nalgonda felt that it needs to rise like phoenix in districts like Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda and Khammam districts.

It may be recalled that in the recent Assembly elections the Congress party had caused a major dent in the BRS vote bank in these districts. It wants to make the issue of the alleged handing over of the projects on river Krishna and Godavari to KRMB a major poll issue.

Nalgonda has been the bastion for the Congress party over the years but in 2018 elections, the BRS had won majority of the seats in the district. In the recent 2023 elections Congress won 11 out of 12 seats. The only seat they lost was Suryapet where G Jagadish Reddy had won from BRS. On an average each candidate had won with at least with over 40,000 majority.

The BRS chief would be stressing on how the party had protected interests of Telangana during its ten years rule and how Congress government gave away projects to KRMB within two months and how it could impact the farmers as well as create drinking water crisis. BRS also wants to try and rake the ‘T’ sentiment and the war cry of separate state ‘Neelu’ (water) once again.

All top leaders have been asked to mobilize large crowds for Nalgonda meeting. KCR also proposes to appoint former ministers as incharges of Lok Sabha segments of Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Khammam. They would also be responsible for mobilising funds for elections.

The BRS chief appointed incharges for all the 12 Assembly Constituencies in Nalgonda. The incharges include Chanti Kranti Kiran for Huzurnagar, Panjala Gopi Reddy for Devarakonda, Ravindra Singh for Nalgonda town, Jeevan Reddy for Tungathurthy, Nandikanti Sridhar for Munugode, T Ravindra Rao for Kodada, Balika Suman for Nakrekal, Aadarsh Reddy of Patancheru and Kamareddy BRS leader Mujeeb for Miryalaguda, Jogu Ramanna for Suryapet, Jajula Surender for Nagarjunsagar, S Ravishankar and Karimnagar leader GV Ramkrishna Rao for Bhongir and K Vidyasagar Rao for Alair.
