Hyderabad: The usually chock-a-block bus stands in the city wore a deserted look as the Joint Action Committee of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees unions decided to go on a strike from Friday midnight.

With over 10,000 buses confined to bus depots, the authorities used 2,100 hired buses and deployed temporary drivers and conductors to meet the rush.

Khusro Shah Khan, Regional Manager, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station said, "On normal days 1,767 service buses were run, by 2 pm 319 buses were running in Hyderabad region.

There total 17 depots under MGBS. Around 17% buses were operational. He further added, by 3 pm 617 buses including RTC, private, school, and college buses were used."
