Film shootings to resume in phased manner

Hyderabad: Film buffs will have to wait some more time before the government permits cinema halls to reopen. But keeping in view the problems being faced by thousands of workers in the film industry, the government has agreed to permit shootings and post-production works from June in a phased manner after it prepares the standard operation procedure (SOP).

This decision was taken after the bigwigs of the film industry, led by film actor K Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Dil Raju and others, met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday and appealed to him to permit the industry to start its operations.

KCR suggested that initially, indoor production works with less number of people should be commenced. In the next phase, in June, the film shootings can begin.

The Chief Minister asserted that the film industry should survive but at the same time coronavirus should not spread. He wanted strict implementation of the safety measures, including less number of people participation in the film shootings until the normalcy restored.

According to Minister for Cinematography T Srinivas Yadav, the Chief Minister has asked the officials to prepare the draft guidelines and this would be discussed by all the stake holders.

He said there could be another two or three meetings before the government decides on permitting the industry to start shootings and opening of theatres.
