Warangal: Rich tributes paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 28th death anniversary in erstwhile Warangal district on Tuesday.

The Congress leaders garlanded the statues of Rajiv Gandhi near Tailors' Street in Hanamkonda and MGM Hospital in Warangal amd said that the former PM's vision and dynamic leadership gave new direction to the country.

The leaders remembered the former PM as a visionary, who took the people of the country on the path of modernisation.

Rajiv was instrumental in ensuring the voting age was 18 years, and he was also instrumental directly releasing funds to the panchayat raj bodies, the leaders said.

Warangal DCC president N Rajender Reddy, Katla Srinivas Rao, Namindla Srinivas, B Srinivas Rao, Dommati Sambaiah, Dr Riaz, Yembadi Ravinder and Poshala Padma were among others present.
