Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail has questioned the silence of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen over RTC strike.

"It is strange that MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, who is also Hyderabad MP, did not speak anything either the difficulties being faced by the people due to RTC strike and the illegal manner in which Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao ordered dismissal of more than 48,000 employees. He is quick to Tweet about everything that happens in the world. But his thoughts and fingers apparently get paralysed when it comes to raising the issues concerning people of Hyderabad," Abdullah Sohail said in a media statement today.

Abdullah Sohail said it was shocking that despite having one MP, 7 MLAs, 2 MLCs and over three dozen Corporators in Hyderabad, the MIM leaders remain silent on public issues. "Owaisi brothers make tall claims in their provocative speeches in public meetings. But when it comes to real issues, they go into silent mode," he said. In terms of strength in Assembly, presently MIM is the second-largest party. Unfortunately, its MLAs lack qualities to raise and represent public issues. He said MIM leaders have no guts to either condemn CM KCR's illegal action of dismissing RTC employees or to speak in favour of common people who are forced to pay extra charges to travel in private buses and other modes of transport.

"MIM leaders have repeatedly failed to represent the people of Hyderabad in a proper manner. But they still call themselves a national party and aspire to win seats in Maharashtra Assembly elections. Asaduddin Owaisi should first fulfil his duties as Hyderabad MP and later dream of becoming a national leader. He must come out of the illusionary world created by some BJP-backed news channels highlighting him as a national leader," he said adding that a leader who is afraid of speaking against a Chief Minister running his government like a dictatorship cannot be a true representative of any community or a constituency.
