Hyderabad: A constable attached to Petbasheerabad police station has been suspended after being caught taking bribe from a migrant worker who returned from Maharashtra.

Hyderabad: A constable attached to Petbasheerabad police station has been suspended after being caught taking bribe from a migrant worker who returned from Maharashtra.

Getting into the details, the worker returned from Maharashtra after getting the coronavirus tests done in the state. However, they informed their return to the police who visited the worker's home for an enquiry. The constable told the worker to remain in home quarantine and demanded Rs 500.

On the worker's request, the constable agreed to take Rs 300 and the amount was transferred through phonepe. The incident came to light after the worker's son shared the screenshot of the money transferred to the constable on his Twitter handle.


Soon after the tweet has gone viral, the Cyberabad police swung into action and enquired about the incident. Following an enquiry, the constable, Srinivas was placed under suspension.
