Hyderabad: The Telangana government's bold decision to dismiss nearly 48,000 employees working with the TSRTC over boycotting their duties has become a big topic in the legal fraternity.
The experts pointed out that the removal of employees on a mass scale is against the labour laws.
However, the government has every right to take disciplinary action against all employees under ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act) if they crossed 'Lakshman Rekha.'
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalaithaa's decision to the removal of nearly 1.5 lakh employees from the services was opposed by all sections.
The Supreme Court also quashed the CM's orders and asked the employees to tender an apology for not attending their duties and causing a big inconvenience to the people.
TSRTC union leader Thomas Reddy said that the mass dismissal of workers from the services is not valid in the courts as the unions already served strike notices in advance.
He held government and the minister concerned responsible for the whole crisis.
He exuded the confidence that courts will come to their rescue and the government will have to face the consequences for taking unilateral decisions against the welfare of RTC workers.
