Fed up farmer attempts suicide at tahsildar office in Gadwal
A farmer doused himself with petrol and tried to commit suicide by letting himself afire at tahsildar office in the Maldakal Mandal of Gadwal district on Monday.

Going into the details, Rajasekhar, a farmer from Maldakal mandal in Gadwal district had been making rounds of the Tahasildar office for a correction in his land Patta passbook. It is said that the tahsildar office staff had erroneously entered in his patta land passbook the details of his land. Instead of mentioning the patta land in survey number 126 and 276 as [atta land in the book the tahasildar had entered it as Inam land or government land.
The farmer after learning this error in his passbook had been making many rounds of the tahsildar office. Though the Tahasildar office staff acknowledged the error, they have been postponing the issue of correction for reasons know to them only since past 2 years.
Fed up with the attitude of the mandal revenue officials, the farmer who brought petrol with him doused him selves in the tahsildar office and tried to lit fire. However, the alert people in the office noticed it and stopped the farmer and averted a major tragedy.
After the incident, the tahasildar office officials said that a field enquiry was pending and based on the enquiry and possession of land and after verification of the old records the corrections will be initiated.
They said delay happened because of lack of staff and they are ready to make the corrections if given some time for background verification of the documents.
