Renowned folk singer Rama Rao (65), popularly known as Arunodaya Rama Rao, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday afternoon in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad: Renowned folk singer Rama Rao (65), popularly known as Arunodaya Rama Rao, died of cardiac arrest on Sunday afternoon in Hyderabad.

He was undergoing treatment at Durgabhai Deshmukh hospital, Vidyanagar for his heart ailment for few days.

Born at Aluru in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, Rama Rao had been an active worker of CPI (ML-New Democracy).

He was 65 and dedicated his entire life for the cause of downtrodden.

Rama Rao's body was kept in Marx Bhavan in Vidyanagar to enable people to pay their last respects. Leaders from various political parties and members of public organisations are expected to reach the place to pay respects to him.

The funeral procession will start at 10 am on Monday and last rites will take place at Amberpet burial ground at 12 noon.

Sadineni Venkateshwar Rao, CPI-ML (New Democracy) stated that the passing away of Rama Rao was a big blow to revolutionary movements, especially Dalit and Adivasi fights.
