Gurrampodu (Nalgonda): The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Wednesday caught Home Guard Gaffar of Gurrampodu police station while accepting bribe from a farmer in connection with a land dispute case.

According to sources, two farmers of Utlapally village in the mandal were having a land dispute. Farmer Venkat Reddy approached the local police for amicable solution as the issue became critical.

Sub-inspector of Gurrampodu, Kranthi Kumar, demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from Venkat Reddy to settle the matter. In this connection, the complainant Venkat Reddy agreed to give Rs 40,000 to the SI and approached the ACB officials.

On Wednesday, as a part of the deal, SI Kranthi Kumar sent home guard Gaffar to collect the money near a sugarcane juice stall in Gurrampodu. The ACB officials caught the home guard while accepting the bribe money from Venkat Reddy. During the quizzing, Gaffar confirmed that on instructions of SI Kranthi Kumar, he met farmer Venkat Reddy to collect the bribe amount. The ACB officials filed cases against SI Kranthi Kumar, home guard Gaffar and one more person and took up the investigation.
