Cherlapally: A 15-day "Bee Keeping Course" for inmates of Cherlapally Central Prison was inaugurated on Monday. Apiculture is the scientific method of rearing honeybees. Agricultural Colony has taken up the initiative in association with The Khadi Gramodyog Maha Vidyalaya, Rajendernagar. Two batches of 30 inmates each will be undergoing the course. The Director-General of Prisons T Rajiv Trivedi said the eco-friendly course would help prisoners earn extra income once they start the process at their respective homes.

Khadi Gramodyog Maha Vidyalaya Principal N Ravi Kumar, National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) retired senior secretary M Subramanyem, Bee Keeping instructor KLN Rao, Jailor P Ashok Kumar, Vet Doctor Prabhakar and Horticulture Officer P Maheshwari were present.
