Hyderabad: Telangana Advocates JAC staged a protest in front of the High Court on Friday, demanding to grant financial assistance to all the needy advocates. Protesting against the decision of the Telangana State Advocates Welfare Trust that, only the advocates who are having 10 years of Standing at Bar are eligible to apply.

Anguished over the decision of the trust, advocates demonstrated in front of the High Court Gate No.4 and demanded to remove the Bar's condition for the financial assistance. The Advocate JAC leaders said, in view of the prevailing lockdown, the State government opted to help the advocates and sanctioned Rs 25 crore. But the Telangana State Advocate Welfare Trust Committee members are acting against the wishes and intentions of the CM and State government.

They demanded the trust to allocate financial assistance to every needy advocate irrespective of conditions. Later they submitted a representation to the Telangana Bar Council member G. Jithender Reddy to amend the condition and help the needy advocates.

What provoked advocates to protest…

In this crucial period of Lockdown, for the welfare and need of the advocates, the State Government has sanctioned Rs 25 crores to allocate financial assistance to the advocates, who are in dire need. A Trust has been formed to help the advocates as the Telangana State Advocates Welfare Trust, headed by Advocate General Banda Shivananda Prasad with another two members viz., Principal Secretary Finance Dept. and Secretary, Law Department to allocate the financial assistance to the advocates who are in dire need.
