Around 100 persons including two ministers attended the party of a 63-year-old diamond merchant that took place last week. However, the merchant who was suffering from cough and other respiratory issues visited a corporate hospital where he tested positive. The health condition of the 63-year-old man worsened after five days and succumbed to the virus.

Meanwhile, all those who attended the party were subjected to undergo the COVID-19 tests and advised home isolation. So far, 20 people who attended the party has tested positive for the virus. However, the party sparked panic among the public representatives who are believed to be self-isolating themselves.

On Saturday, the state recorded 1,850 coronavirus cases and five fatalities taking the death toll to 288 and total positive cases to 22,312. The GHMC area reported 1,572 cases on Saturday. Meanwhile, 1,342 patients were discharged from the hospital taking the total numbers of recoveries to 11,537. Currently, there are 10,487 active cases.
