Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to hold the Independence day celebrations at Pragathi Bhavan this year instead of at Golconda fort in Hyderabad. The CM directed the officials to make arrangements to hoist the national flag at Pragathi Bhavan in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rao will be hoisting the flat at 10.30 am on August 15. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made by the government.

The government has already directed the ministers and government whip to hold the celebrations at district-level. Minister Koppula Eshwar will hoist the flag in Jagtial, Puvvada Ajay Kumar in Khammam, Gangula Kamalakar in Karimnagar, V Srinivas Goud in Mahbubnagar, Satyavati Rathod in Mahabubabad, Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Medak, Chamakura Mallareddy in Medchal-Malkajgiri, A Indrakaran Reddy in Nirmal, Vemula Prashanth Reddy in Nizamabad, Eatala Rajender in Peddapalli, KT Rama Rao in Rajanna-Sircilla, Sabitha Indra Reddy in Rangareddy, Mahmood Ali in Sangareddy, Harish Rao in Siddipet, Guntakandla Jagadeesh Reddy in Suryapet, Singireddy Nirajan Reddy in Wanaparthy and Errabelli Dayakar Rao in Warangal Rural.

The list follows, Assembly speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to hoist the flag at Kamareddy, Deputy speaker Padmarao Goud at Vikarabad, Council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy at Nalgonda, council deputy chairman Vidyasagar Rao at Narayanpet, Chief whip Bodguganti Venkateshwarlu at Jangaon, Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar at Warangal Urban, government whips Ganpa Govardhan Reddy at Adilabad, Regala Kantha Rao at Bhadradri Kothagudem, T Bhanuparasad Rao at Jayashankar Bhupalapally, K Damodar Reddy at Jogulambad Gadwal, Arikepudi Gandi at Komaram Bheem-Asifabad, Balka Suman at Mancherial, MS Prabhakar Rao at Mulugu, Guvvala Balaraju (Nagarkurnool), Gongidi Sunitha at Yadadri.

The orders released by the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar directed all the above party leaders to hoist the national flag at the places allocated by 9.30 am. It also asked the leaders to ensure face mask and social distancing while participating in the celebrations.
