Bahadurpura: 'World Sparrow Day' was celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park in Bahadurpura on Friday, with the objective of increasing awareness about and protecting the Sparrows. About 50 wooden nest boxes were installed on the Zoo premises by the Curator in Nehru Zoological Park.
Curator N Kshitija said that World Sparrow Day is an International initiative observed on March 20 in collaboration with organisations across the world to celebrate sparrows, one of the most widespread passerine birds in the world. The measure is to provide a platform for conservation of dwindling sparrows. She also appealed to staff and citizens, charities, conservationists, government, corporation and individuals to participate in sparrow conservation by keeping grains and water in their balconies or windows.
