In a meeting with the nodal officials - Somithdas Gupta, Manoj Kumar Gupta, Someshwar Rao and Nitesh Patidhar - appointed by the Centre for supervising the implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan here on Tuesday, the Collector informed them about the progress of the measures being taken as part of the campaign.
The nodal officials were here on a three-day field visit to inspect the implementation of Jal Shakti campaign in the district.
"The work on construction of 42 water harvesting structures and five farm ponds has been completed, apart from restoring tanks in Vangara, Keshavanagar, Banjarpally, Jeelugula and Velair villages. The work on nine borewell recharge structures and 1,634 trenches was also completed, he added.
To senisitse about the importance of Jal Shakti Abhiyan among the masses, the administration has also organised five awareness campaigns, Patil said.
In addition to this, Krishi Vignana Kendra had organised four awareness programmes involving people's representatives and officials, he said. The Collector said that they have a comprehensive irrigation planning for the district.
"All components initiated under Jal Shalki Abhiyan have been geo-tagged and they can be inspected," Patil said. It may be mentioned here that water conservation and rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures, watershed development, and intensive afforestation are some of the components of the Jal Shakti Abhiyan aimed water conservation.
Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) planning officer E Ajith Reddy and District Rural Development Officer (DRDO) T Ramu were among others present.
