Warangal: The girls outperformed boys marginally in the erstwhile Warangal district in the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examination results announced on Monday.

Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, predominantly a tribal populated district, sprang a surprise by topping the other districts in the erstwhile Warangal. The district stood sixth in the State with a pass percentage of 97.5. It may be mentioned here that Jagtial district put up a stupendous performance topping the State with 99.73 pass percentage.

Jangaon finished ninth in the State with 97.15%, followed by Warangal Rural 14th with 95.87%, Warangal Urban 17th with 95.51%, Mahabubabad 26th with 87.85%.

In all, 45,794 students passed out of a total 48,357 appeared in the examination in the erstwhile Warangal district. Girls fared slightly better than boys recording a pass percentage of 94.93 as against boys' 94.46. The number of boys appeared for the exam is 24,452 and girls 23,905.

The erstwhile Warangal district which recorded a pass percentage of 94.69 in the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) examinations conducted in March 2019 did well compared to overall State percentage of 92.43. Although Warangal Urban has been ranked 17th in the State this year, the district recorded 95.51 pass percentage much better than compared to 93.48 in 2017 and 92.19 in 2018. Warangal Urban district education officer K Narayan Reddy expressed satisfaction over the results.

It may be mentioned here that the combined Warangal district topped SSC results in the State in 2014, 2015 and 2016 before the government carved out smaller districts in 2016.
