Karimnagar: Telugu Desam Party handloom cell district president Vemula Rajesham alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is not bothered about the welfare of handloom workers and neglecting them.

Speaking at a press meet at the party office here on Friday, V Rajesham criticised the TRS government had utterly failed in solving various problems of handloom workers and not taking any initiation for their welfare.

KCR had allotted negligible amounts of funds in the budget to handloom sector and kept restrictions to sanction them on subsidy.

Due to the effect of demonetization and GST implementation, many handloom workers faced lot of problems and some of the handloom workshops were even closed and were unable to open them.

Rajesham pointed out that handloom workers couldn't clear even the interest of the loan they had taken with the loan waiver amount sanctioned by the TRS government.

Stating that there is a need to represent in the Parliament by a leader, who can represent the voice of handloom workers, he urged the party leadership to nominate TDP district president Ambati Joji Reddy's name for Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat.

All the TDP leaders and handloom workers, including people belonging to Padmashali community will extend their support to A Joji Reddy and will strive hard for his victory, he assured.

District vice-president Sandeboina Rajesham, secretary Vemula Laxman Rao and Kothapalli mandal party president Akula Kanthaiah were present in the press meet.
