Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said Telangana State is yet to see the freedom envisioned by India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said Telangana State is yet to see the freedom envisioned by India's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Union Minister, who is on a visit to the State, had paid tributes to the police martyrs at the memorial at Ghoshamahal stadium here on Saturday. Earlier the Minister along with the party State president K Laxman garlanded the statue of Patel near State Assembly.

Kishan Reddy, who also paid tributes at the martyr's memorial at Gun Park said that justice was not done for those who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate Telangana even after six years.

According to the government accounts, over 1,500 people had lost lives for the cause of separate Telangana.

But, the ideals for which the first Home Minister had ordered police action to merge Hyderabad with Indian Union was not yet realised in the State. "Still it is the Nizam's rule that is being continued in the State," he pointed out.

Later, family members of the Prem Kumar, a BJP worker, who was murdered in Dhokur village of Mahbubnagar, met the Minister. BJP leader D K Aruna was also present. The BJP leader said the TRS had resorted to the political violence and it was threatening those who refused to vote for it, she said.

Following this, the Minister called the State DGP and discussed the issue of the alleged murder of the BJP worker. The BJP Secunderabad MP also said that any attempt by the TRS to enact West Bengal kind of violence in Telangana would not be allowed.
