Mahbubnagar: On the 45th day of ongoing indefinite strike by the RTC employees, the workers took up to intensify their agitation against the state government's adamant attitude towards their cause and launched hunger strikes across various bus depots in erstwhile Mahbubnagar on Monday.

In Jogulamba Gadwal district, the RTC employees sat on a relay hunger strike for which all the opposition political parties like CPI, CPM, Congress, TJS and local students associations extended their support.

Similar hunger strike protests were also seen in Wanaparthy district. The RTC workers earlier took out a rally, for which the police declined to give permission and arrested the RTC JAC leaders. Over this, the RTC employees along with all Opposition parties leaders sat in front of Wanaparthy Town police station and expressed their displeasure at the way the police are behaving with the RTC employees.

RTC employees in Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Narayanpet districts also staged hunger strike protest and expressed their anger against the State government. They also deplored the excesses by the police, who are arresting the RTC workers protesting peacefully. "The State government is using police to curb the protest of RTC workers. This kind of aggression against the RTC workers will further infuriate and intensify the strike. Instead we are demanding the government to call us for talks to resolve the issue and help the RTC employees to restore their normal livelihood," said a striking RTC worker in Wanaparthy.
