Make use of cybercrime portal: Commissioner of Police V Ravinder
Warangal: The needy can lodge their complaints on the cybercrime portal www.cybercrime.gov.in recently launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India under National Mission for the Safety of Women online, Commissioner of Police V Ravinder said.
Speaking at a one-day training session to the writers in police stations across the Commissionerate here on Monday, he said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has come up with Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) to deal with the complaints pertaining to online child pornography/child sexual abuse material or sexually explicit content such as rape/gang rape content either anonymously or by revealing the identity of the complainants.
He said that complaints reported on this portal are dealt by respective police stations across the country based on the information in the complaints provided by the complainants. The system allows speedy investigation, he added.
Referring to a complaint lodged with the cybercrime portal by a woman, the Commissioner said that they had booked a case against a person for misusing the photographs of the complainant. The police also ensured removal of objectionable content posted by the wrongdoer, he added.
Ravinder said that the reputation of the police would go up if they continue the people's-friendly approach. He emphasised the need for sensitising the people about the cybercrime portal and its utility in curbing crime. Additional DCP (Administration) Venkatalaxmi, Cyber and IT Core Inspectors Janardhan Reddy and Raghavender AAO Prashanth, Cybercrime team members Kishore, Raju, Anjaneyulu, Ratnakar and Naresh were among others present.
