Malkajgiri: Bad roads, lack of streetlights, irregular water supply, establishment of speed breakers in your locality to control vehicle speed or sound pollution, whatever the local issue may be, you can now bring it to the notice of police to get it addressed. Police will take special initiative to address the local issues if it is brought to their notice as part of community policing.
During a vertical training of police staff held recently, Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagawath instructed police officials to focus on local issues as part of community policing. As part of the initiative, police have been gathering information about the local issues in 200 colonies in Neredmet police station limits.
Community policing Blue Colts staff have been receiving complaints on local issues such as eve teasing, lack of streetlights and bad roads, which have potential to increase crime and accidents in the area, and may result in failure of law and order in the area. To avoid such a situation, community police have been gathering details on local issues and handing over the issues to their SHO, who in turn would bring the issues to the notice of government officials.
When contacted on the initiative, Neredmet CI Narsimha Swamy said that details about local issues and lack of basic amenities were being gathered by police as part of community policing programme. He said that police have been meeting senior citizens of each colony to know about local issues and problems. The objective of the programme is to maintain law and order in the colonies and increase public coordination.
