Minor driving: CTP urges the parents to act more responsible

Cyberabad Traffic Police (CTP) is conducting regular enforcement drives against the minor driving in all areas of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits.
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police (CTP) is conducting regular enforcement drives against the minor driving in all areas of the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate limits.
Large number of complaints, media reports on the rampant violation of the most basic traffic rule i.e., children/minors driving vehicles on roads.
On enquiry, it is found that the parents are encouraging these activities in a callous attitude. Children are found while driving a vehicle to attend to errands (to bring milk, water, medicine, news paper, etc); going to schools/colleges; to drop some relative to bus stand or metro; trying to learn driving; etc. Also, many children are going for a jolly ride with friends by taking a vehicle without parents' knowledge.
The children lack driving skills and road sense and hence they would most likely cause an accident or become victims of accidents.
CTP urges the parents to act more responsibly and see that their children/wards do not violate traffic rules anytime. Also, it is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children/wards, the values of a good citizen which involve 'following of rules' as the first duty. Instead of gifting a vehicle to children, the parents need to make them learn proper and safe driving and obtain a valid driving license without depending on any middlemen.
CTP reiterates the need of self-compliance of traffic rules by the citizens for a better management of Traffic in the city.
It was surprising and sad to note that as many as 164 minor driving cases were booked in a span of less than 5 days. This is only during day time. It shows the rampant disrespect to the traffic rules by the parents.
CTP has put in place a focused approach towards controlling this dangerous activity through continuous enforcement and dedicated counseling. Focused enforcement drives are being conducted on residential area roads. A dedicated counseling session will be held on every Friday to the parents and the children at the Traffic Training Institute, Cyberabad at Madhapur traffic PS as per the Supreme Court guidelines on road safety.
