The police have thrown a massive security blanket across Medaram and all roads leading to the jatara.
Mulugu: The police have thrown a massive security blanket across Medaram and all roads leading to the jatara. Mulugu Superintendent of Police Sangram Singh G Patil has said that around 10,000 police personnel drawn from three Police Commissionerates - Warangal, Ramagundam and Khammam – deployed for the security of devotees turning to Sammakka Saralamma jatara at Medaram village scheduled to begin on Wednesday, February 5.
In all, six SPs, 30 ASPs, 80 DSPs, 300 CIs, 750 SIs would officiate at the jatara that was divided into 20 sectors working directly under the supervision of IG Y Nagi Reddy and other senior officials. The jatara area includes neighbouring villages spread over a radius of nearly seven kilometers. This apart, the police have to cover routes heading to Medaram from Warangal via Mulugu and Bhupalpally.
The police also installed 400 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at all vantage points in and around Medaram, connected to Command and Control room located at the ITDA camp office. The SP said that as many as 100 two wheelers have been provided to policemen for bike patrolling to reach the troublesome spots within no time.
Referring to the traffic advisory, the SP said that devotees arriving in vehicles to Medaram from Warangal have to take Pasra and Narlapur route. On their return, they have to take the route of Bhupalpally and Parkal. The vehicles of VVIPs and RTC buses will have to go to Medaram via Tadvai and the same will be on the return journey, Sangram Singh said. The SP urged the motorists not to stop their vehicles on the roads other than designated places to avoid traffic snarls.
Mulugu in-charge Collector RV Karnan said that all the arrangements have been made for the devotees to have hassle free darshan of deities. Emphasising the need for lane driving, he urged the motorists to maintain retrain. The Collector also urged the devotees not to carry plastic bags. As many as 38 parking places were set up on 1,500 acres area and there were four ways to reach Medaram from all over the state and neighbouring Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states, he added.
