The Directorate of Government Examinations, Telangana directed the concerned authorities to make arrangements for alloting one student per bench in a zigzag pattern while conducting SSC examinations. Currently, two students are alloted per bench.

To allot one student per bench additional benches and rooms are required. There are around 5,34,903 students registered for the SSC exams this year and a total of 2,530 centres were arranged with an average of 200 to 220 students per centre.

The examinations department had a meeting on Thursday where it directed the concerned officials to look for additional classrooms or centres. The additional centres or classrooms requires new invigilators, departmental officers, additional chief superintendents and other staff.

The Telangana government said the SSC exams will be conducted in May. However, permission from the High Court is required. The government halted the exams on March 23 after the country announced nationwide shut down. Only three exams were conducted and the remaining eight exams are yet to be held.
