OU faculty recruitment notification by July 25
Govt to appoint regular VCs to all varsities by mid-August
Hyderabad: Ending a two-decade-old logjam, Osmania University is all set to issue a faculty recruitment notification before July 25. All other universities in the state are also likely to issue similar notifications by the end of this month.
According to sources, the notification for about 400 vacancies across various departments in Osmania University will be issued.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official of the Higher Education department said, "The government has already given its nod for the recruitment of 1,061 vacant positions across state universities.
There is no need for any fresh approval from the government and the universities can go ahead issuing notifications," he added.
It may be mentioned here that Vice-Chancellor posts of nine out of 11 universities are falling vacant by the end of July 2019.
When asked will the recruitment process will be hit again on account of vacancies of the VCs, the official said, "There is no bar in issuing recruitment notifications.
It will be done as per the guidelines recently issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), along with the timelines." he said.
TSCHE sources said the appointment of VCs is expected to be completed by the second or third week of August 2019.
Letters have already been sent to the UGC and universities concerned to nominate members for the panel. The notification for the recruitment of faculty and the selection of VCs can go parallelly.
"All the nine universities will have new VCs by the time the faculty recruitment process reaches the stage where the presence of VC is considered a must as VC is the chairman of the faculty recruitment committee," the sources said.
However, the government does not want the recruitment process to go on under in charge VCs as it might turn into a controversy.
An out-going VC of a university said: "Shortly, we are issuing notification as the process of fixing reservations is in the final stage. If possible, it will be issued in the first week of August itself."
