Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector gave clear directions to the newly-elected ward councillors of all four municipalities and chairpersons that they all need to once again take inspiration from the earlier Palle Pragathi programme and should take up the implementation of 'Pattana Pragathi' in a systematic manner and make it a grand success.

The District Collector said that the Pattana Pragathi programme was scheduled to be launched from February 24. He later gave instructions to the Municipal Commissioners and people's representatives about the programmes to be taken up till March 4. "During the 10-day period, the concerned ward councillors along municipal staff must chart out a comprehensive action plan as to what are the works to be taken up in each and every ward and how to proceed forward," said the Collector.

Giving instructions to councillors, the District Collector gave a three-months deadline to them to ensure they complete the construction of 100 Individual Household Latrines in the municipalities. Similarly, for erection of electric polls and resolving any kind of power problems in the wards, the electricity officials are given five-month period to ensure all the power problems are resolved in the wards.

The Collector stressed that focus must be laid on construction of IHLs, erection of power lines and resolution of power problems, setting up of dumping yards and cremation grounds besides plantation of saplings.

Zilla Parishad chairperson Padmavathi, chairpersons of all four municipalities,Municipal Commissioners and senior officials from engineering, sanitation and healthcare wings attended the meeting.
