Results of 41 local contact cases awaited

Hyderabad: The number of Covid-19 positive cases jumped to 37 in Telangana on Tuesday. Out of the four new cases confirmed three are of foreign returnees and one is of local contact from Manikonda.

However, the Health department is waiting for the results of 113 suspected cases out of which 72 have foreign travel history.

This means that the remaining 41 suspected cases are primary contacts who were suspected to be infected with the virus by getting in touch with foreign returned patients who tested positive.

According to sources, a good number of primary contacts are believed to be from Karimnagar town. Already one local youth who got in touch with the 10-member Indonesian group tested positive.

Following this incident, the district administration declared area in and around Mukarampura as Red Zone and people in around 4,000 houses were told not to come out of house for next 14 days. Even vegetables and essential items were supplied by district administration in packaged bags to each house.

Meanwhile, over 1,930 people are in home quarantine at this point of time and their health condition is being monitored by health teams twice daily.

Of the three new positive cases confirmed on Tuesday, P34 is a 49-year-old male from Kokapet who returned from London. P35 is a 39-year-old female and a resident of Chandanagar with travel history to Germany.

P36 is a 61-year-old female who returned from Saudi Arabia. According to authorities, health condition of all the three is stable.
