The members of Committee for Restoration of Singareni Train staged a demonstration in front of the Collector's office here on Monday demanding restoration of Singareni Train.

Kothagudem: The members of Committee for Restoration of Singareni Train staged a demonstration in front of the Collector's office here on Monday demanding restoration of Singareni Train. The committee comprising different political parties and social organisations was formed recently. The members of the committee submitted a memorandum to the district officials.

Speaking to media persons, committee office bearers K Panduranga Chary, B Vijay, A Sharath, Janga Shyam Sunder, Srinivas Reddy and others demanded the South Central Railway (SCR) to immediately restore Singareni Passenger.

Singareni train was the main connection for all the employees of SCCL and their families in 10 districts falling in coal belt area and they were suffering a lot due to push-pull train.

Shyam Sunder and Panduranga Chary informed that Kothagudem youth and members of Akhila Bharatiya Yadava Sangham have conducted a signature campaign in connection with the issue.

The committee has planned to conduct a day-long awareness meeting at Kothagudem on May 24 to mobilise public support and to launch relay-hunger strike after May 24 demanding to restore Singareni Passenger Train, they added.

Committee members K Anudeep, Martini Laxmi, K Vanitha and others were present.

On the occasion, the leaders of Left wing parties demanded the MLAs and MPs in coal belt area to respond to the issue and put pressure on SCR to withdraw push-pull train and restore Singareni Passenger train with increased amenities.
