Rain Threat: Civil Supplies Dept Put On High Alert

Hyderabad: State Civil Supplies and Marketing Departments are directed to be on high alert and take immediate steps to lift the paddy stocks from the market yards in the State to the warehouses.

State Civil Supplies and Marketing Minister S Niranjan Reddy said here on Friday that the directions were given following the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rains with thunderstorm for the next three days in the State.

He said the officials should be on high alert as the Met Department forecast thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rainfall, besides hailstorm and gusty wind with 50-60 kmph are likely at several places across the State.

He said besides lifting the procured paddy stocks from the market yards to the warehouses, the officials are asked to ensure that the paddy stocks brought to the yards by the farmers are not exposed to the rain.

Similarly, the officials are asked to ensure that there are no problems in the power supply to the market yards, and, if necessary. to make alternative arrangements.

Similarly, the officials are asked to keep the stocks of tarpaulins at the IKP paddy procurement centres to protect the paddy stocks from the rain.
