Mahbubnagar: The 5th International Yoga Day celebrations were held on a grand note in Mahbubnagar district on Friday. Schoolchildren of Kendriya Vidyalaya, who happened to attend the first day of their school this academic year on Friday, took part in the Yoga celebrations on their campus premises.

Srinivas Goud, Minister for Excise and Prohibition, Tourism, Culture and Youth Welfare also took part as a chief guest in a seminar on meditation at Kanha Shanti Vanam at Chegur village in Mahbubnagar. Speaking on the occasion, he said youth must build their self-confidence by practising meditation and Yoga.

Devarkadra MLA Ala Venkateshwar Reddy, Narayanpet MLA S Rajender Reddy, and other senior district officials took part in a meditation programme and advised the youth to build value-based lifestyle. They encouraged the children from rural villages to compete equally with those of in urban areas. "Confidence is the only thing that helps a person to build a great career in life. Meditation and Yoga will help it in a big way," said Narayanpet MLA Rajender Reddy.

More than 850 youngsters from Mahbubnagar and Narayanpet attended the seminar along with 300 Anganwadi and Asha workers.
