Vijayawada: The Civil Supplies Department has made all arrangements for the distribution of fourth phase of free ration to the white ration cardholders in the State from Saturday. Ration will be distributed to 1.47 crore white cardholders through 29,620 ration shops.

Arrangements are also made for the distribution of ration to fresh applicants, who filed applications for the ration cards. So far, 95,000 persons have applied for the white ration cards and 81,862 families are eligible for the white ration cards and they will get ration from Saturday onwards.

Addressing the media in Gudivada on Friday, Civil Supplies Minister Kodali Venkateswara Rao alias Nani said that for each person five kg of rice will be distributed and one kg Bengal gram on each ration card. He further said the ward and village volunteers already distributed time slots to the beneficiaries for taking the ration from fair price shops and ration cardholders need not rush at the same time.

He said arrangements were also made to maintain physical distance at the fair price shops. He suggested to the beneficiaries to wear masks without fail while going to the ration shops.

Nani said masks and sanitisers were also arranged at the ration shops for the convenience of cardholders and dealers.

He informed that three phases of ration distribution was completed successfully and the fourth phase will begin on May 16.

Referring to Antyodaya beneficiaries, he said 35 kg of rice will be distributed and 10 kg for the Annapurna ration card holders.
