Amaravati: The state-owned New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Central public sector undertaking Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Ltd (REIL) to develop charging infrastructure like public charging stations (PCS) in 32 locations covering Vijayawada, Kakinada, Tirupati and Guntur districts.
Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of NREDCAP Ramana Reddy and REIL Deputy General Manager Rupesh Chawla discussed about the development of charging infrastructure in the state to facilitate the electric vehicles including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, cars and buses.
The REIL would develop charging stations at various locations with various capacities for slow-charging, fast-charging and battery swapping among other facilities.
There will be tie-up with network service provider with charging stations to enable advance remote or online booking of charging slots by the electric vehicle owners.
It is hoped that electric mobility would help in saving almost 50 per cent expenditure on petrol or diesel or CNG apart from health and environmental benefits.
