The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will commence on December 9.
Amaravati: The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will commence on December 9. The schedule of the session will be decided in the Business Advisory Committee meeting.
During the Assembly session, which is expected to be a stormy one, some key Bills, including the amendment to the existing Act for stringent action against illegal sand and liquor sale, are expected to be introduced.
While the government has identified about 22 issues that would be taken up during the session that would end on December 19, the Opposition too is gearing up to corner the government on issues like capital city of Amaravati, Speaker's comments against the Leader of Opposition, introduction of English medium in schools, Polavaram project and fall in revenue, etc.
The government wants to launch a counterattack on the Opposition and highlight the welfare schemes, which are part of the Navaratnalu. It also proposes to discuss the proposed change of medium of education from Telugu to English from class 1 from the next academic year, the newly introduced village Secretariat system and its functioning, recruitment of 1.3 lakh government employees, new liquor policy, etc.
YSRCP senior leader and Government Chief Whip Gadikota Srikanth Reddy said the government will also introduce certain Bills, which will be finalized in the Business Advisory Committee meeting scheduled to be held on Monday. He said the government is likely to table the CAG reports in this session.
