District admin to ensure smooth conduct of polls
District Collector K Bhaskar has directed the authorities concerned to work in tandem to ensure smooth conduct of elections in the district. Addressing the inter-district coordination meeting held here on Sunday, Bhaskar said the meeting was held following a directive from the Election Commission.

Addressing the inter-district coordination meeting held here on Sunday, Bhaskar said the meeting was held following a directive from the Election Commission.
He said sensitive villages would be identified and necessary steps would be taken to ward off any untoward incident in the wake of general elections. Similarly, villages and polling booths located in border areas should be identified and bando bust be stepped up at check posts, he stated.
The collector added that special attention should be paid to naxal-influenced areas and steps would be initiated to ensure law and order in such areas. Speaking on possible liquor flow, he said that measures would be initiated for the closure of wine shops 48 hours before the commencement of polling.
Commissioner of Police Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that measures would be taken for the smooth conduct of polling.
District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Returning officers and other officials from Vizianagaram, Koraput and Malkanagiri also attended the meeting.
