Enforce PC&PNDT Act effectively: Collector to officials
District Collector N B Guptha has instructed the medical authorities to enforce Pre-Conception and Pre- Natal Diagnostics Techniques Act 1994 with commitment.
Chittoor: District Collector N B Guptha has instructed the medical authorities to enforce Pre-Conception and Pre- Natal Diagnostics Techniques Act 1994 with commitment. Awareness should be created among the medical officers over the implementation of the Act, he added.
Participating at District Level Advisory Committee Meet on PC&PNDT Act held here on Saturday , the Collector has expressed his serious concern over the decline in the female population. The PC&PNDT Act has banned prenatal discrimination.
But certain scanning centres were still violating the Act, he said. He cautioned the doctors of scanning centres to be very serious in enforcing the Act. If the act is violated , there will be serious punishment with a sentence of three years along with penalty.
He instructed the DMHO to conduct surprise checks on the scanning centres and see that the Act is enforced strictly. Trainee Collector Prudhvitej, Joint Collector 2 VR Chandramouli, DMHO Dr Penchalaiah, DCH Dr Saralamma and others were present
