Dwaraka Tirumala: A farmers meet organised here on Friday opined that faulty policies of the government are responsible for increasing suicides of farmers. Speaking at the seminar, AP Rythu Sangham state president Y Kesavarao said the farmers were being neglected by the governments.

The governments have been creating crisis in agriculture forcing the farmers to end lives. He found fault with the Union government's support price policy. Contrary to Swaminathan Commission recommendations, the Centre had decided support price for the crops much less than the production cost. The Commission had recommended that the farmers should be given support price 50 per cent more than crop production cost.

He called upon the farmers to get ready for agitations to save agriculture. He demanded that the governments take initiative to reach the announced schemes to the real beneficiaries. The farmers should be supplied with enough quantity of seeds of all crops.
