Guntur: CPI state secretary K Rama Krishna warned that they will carry on their agitation to mount pressure on the government to continue Amaravati as capital.

He inaugurated all-party Deeksha at Mallaiahlingam Bhavan here on Sunday. Speaking on this occasion, he said the farmers of Amaravati have been agitating for the last 180 days with a demand to continue capital at Amaravati.

But the government is not responding. He reminded that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not announce he would shift state capital to Vizag from Amaravati.

He recalled that the farmers are agitating against shifting of capital from March 3. He demanded that the government make a statement in the state Assembly scheduled to commence from June 16, stating the government would not shift capital from Amaravati.

He said that the TDP government had spent Rs 9,000 crore for developing infrastructure in Amaravati. He warned if the government did not make an announcement on capital, they will intensify their agitation.

MLC AS Rama Krishna alleged that the state government is trying to dilute agitation taken up by the famers in the state capital Amaravati.

CPI district secretary Jangala Ajay Kumar and city secretary Kota Malyadri were among those participated.
