NHI officials have already called for land acquisition from the Revenue Department. DPR (Detail Project Report) is also prepared. The NH 716 was assigned to NHIAP, the road that was formerly in NSU. Along with Kadapa, vehicles from Kurnool, Chittoor and many other states regularly travel on the same route.

In this backdrop, expansion responsibilities have been delegated to the NHIA (National Highways Authority). The DPR has also been prepared. The two-lane road is expected to be four-row. Land acquisition and construction combined Officials are also predicting that 2000 crore will be required.

Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy discussed the road expansion with the authorities. Initially, NHI officials decided to widen the four-lane road from RIMS Road to Renigunta. However, MP YS Avinashreddi had advised the authorities to change the alignment from here and extend the YSR Tolplaza to Renigunta airport. Finally, the officials considered his decision and preparing the alignment.

NHRIA officials have prepared the DPR to build a four-lane highway from Badawal to Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district, along the Kadapa-Renigunta road. The Krishnapatnam Port is also used for exporting iron ore and granite from other parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Against this backdrop, the stretch of the road from Krishnapatnam to Kadapa to Badawelu will be widened to 138 km.

NHIA Project Director Sudhakar Reddy said there would be a special meeting with NHIA officials in Delhi on Wednesday regarding the expansion. There we will explain this. The tenders are likely to be called soon.
