Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao will meet at Pragathi Bhavan to discuss various issues pertaining river waters on Monday.

The meeting assumes political significance more so in the wake of the statement of KCR in the Assembly on Saturday that the engineers of Telangana had prepared a report on the proposals for linking of Godavari and Krishna rivers.

Jagan had also stated in Kurnool that he would be discussing the issue with his Telangana counterpart so that Rayalaseema will not have to suffer from shortage of water.

Both the CMs had already held a series of discussions on shifting of Godavari waters to Srisailam to benefit the Rayalaseema region as well as Nalgonda and Palamuru districts of Telangana.

The engineering experts from the two states had prepared their proposals shortlisting some ideal places to shift Godavari waters.

In the last meeting held in June, both the CMs discussed at length the proposals made by the engineering experts and gave their inputs and suggestions.

The Telangana Irrigation department stated they have finetuned the earlier three proposals with information on project costs, merits, technical feasibilities, etc and gave their recommendations.

It however remains to be seen if the issue of lowering the height of Polavaram will also figure during the meeting or not.

Bifurcation-related issues, including government staff division, outstanding dues in various departments are likely to be part of the agenda.
