Guntur: Doctors in the GGH successfully performed Lymphoedema Reduction Surgery (LRS) to a youth suffering from huge scrotal swelling and both legs have been swelling for four years with a difficulty in passing urine. His penis was separated and now he is able to pass urine separately and able to walk.

According to Dr Sumita Shankar, a 25-year-old youth from Krishna district came with inability to walk properly and difficulty in passing urine.

He started developing increase in the size of scrotum along with swelling of both legs. He was operated for cancer of penis where partial amputation was done and both sides inguin lymph node dissection was also done and subsequently he was subjected to radiotherapy treatment in private hospital. He was admitted in Guntur Government Hospital in the department of plastic surgery.

Doctors under the guidance of Dr Sumita Shankar and her team Dr Nazma, Dr Bhavani, Dr Markendeyulu, Dr B Prakash Rao, anesthesia team under Dr Trinadh performed Lymphoedema Reduction surgery one week ago. Four-and-a-half kgs scrotal lymphoedematous skin was removed and scrotal and penile reconstruction was done.
