Machilipatnam: The Krishna district police arranged check-posts and conducting surprise checks on roads that connect the district with the neighbouring Telangana state to check the menace of bootlegging.
As part of the continuous raids, the police arrested 341 persons and seized 4,458 liquor bottles, 243 litres of illicit liquor registering 245 cases against them. The police also seized 115 two-wheelers and 10 four- wheelers during the last week.
On Friday alone, the police arrested 51 persons and seized 589 liquor bottles worth Rs one lakh. Likewise, 42 litres of illicit liquor was also seized arresting four persons on Friday.
Superintendent of Police Ravindranath Babu, in a statement here on Friday, said that liquor smuggling would not be tolerated at any cost.
